watertown community gardens

Created to present to the Watertown Conservation Commission, we continued to use these documents to communicate with our membership body and potential new gardeners.
This cover page provides a site plan and helps place the proposed sites in the city.
While listed as the "Alternate" Site, this site was actually the WCG's first choice as the site was larger, fenced, and close to the water source.
Both sites provide a significant increase in beds over the existing garden, however, this particular site is larger and allowed us to begin to program bigger and more robust community spaces.
Ideally, the completed garden will include accessible beds, vertical gardening, potato bins, composting, small shed, and an educational gathering place.
This site was also smaller, and did not provide as many community program opportunities as desired without impacting the number of beds.
This site was the city's first choice. However, WCG found this site to be almost unacceptable due to the distance from accessible parking, distance from water, lack of public presence, and lack of a fence.
This site was also smaller, and did not provide as many community program opportunities as desired.
For the first build day, I created a set of easy to follow instructions for the volunteers. This worked well to get everyone on the same page and we were able to build the beds simultaneously.
